CHAI TEA SPICE BLEND
I’m a coffee lover through and through but once in awhile I crave a warm cozy chai. You can buy pre-made chai blends at the supermarket but they’re often littered with preservatives and a ton of sugar. This spice blend is shelf stable and free of additives.
Ingredients:
3 tbl cinnamon
3 tbl ground ginger
3 tsp ground cardamon
2 tsp ground nutmeg
2 tsp ground clove
1 tsp ground black pepper
1 tsp allspice
Directions:
Mix all spices in a bowl. Transfer to an air tight container or glass jar and keep for up to 2 months.
FOR A LATTE:
If you have a frother, combine 1- 1 1/2 tsp of the spice blend with 1 cup of dairy or non-dairy milk (full fat coconut milk is my go-to) and a splash of maple syrup. Pour into a mug with 1/2 cup of steeped black tea and enjoy!
If you don’t have a frother, add 1 cup of dairy or non-dairy milk to a small saucepan. Add 1- 1 1/2 tsp of the spice blend with a splash of maple syrup and whisk until your desired temperature. Add milk mixture to a mug with 1/2 cup of steeped black tea.
FOR A DIRTY CHAI:
Follow latte steps but add two shots of espresso instead of black tea.
