ALL ABOUT THE FACE
Over the past 5 years, I’ve really tried to replace my skincare and makeup with “clean” products. It started when I had our first son. The baby industry is so overwhelming and as a new parent I was navigating how to choose the right products for him that weren’t riddled with chemicals. I downloaded the ‘Think Dirty’ app and my world was enlightened to just how many of the products in our home contained toxic ingredients. So little by little, I started to make a few changes.
I’m a skincare junkie. Trust me. I’ve had enough allergic reactions to prove it! However, much like the baby industry, the beauty industry is incredibly overwhelming. To me, less is more. I found the more products I put on my face the more congested it would get, which would often lead to breakouts.
The starting line up:
Cleanser: Honest Gel Cleanser
Serum: Biossance Vitamin C & Rose Oil
Face Cream: Honest Hydrogel Cream
Eye Cream: Biossance Squalane and Peptide Eye Gel
Deodorant: Native
Twice a week I exfoliate and will choose one of these to do the job:
Dr. Dennis Gross Alpha Beta Peel Pads - these are not clean by any standards but goodness do they work.
Bioeffect Volcanic Exfoliator - I can’t begin to describe how amazing your face will feel after this scrub. It’s a pretty penny but worth every dime and it’ll last you forever.
I used to balk at clean makeup brands because the product lines didn’t produce great results. Any kind of make up I bought (full disclosure: I bought the makeup at Whole Foods.) didn’t actually work. The colour match was terrible, the consistency was weird and the smell….there was ALWAYS a smell. Clean beauty has come a long way and I’m happy to share my list of ride or dies:
Supergoop! Unseen Sunscreen
Kosas Tinted Face Oil
RMS Blush - Shade Lost Angel
RMS Uncover Up - Shade 44
RMS Uncover Foundation - I rarely use foundation but if I do, this is the only one I’ll put on my face.
RMS Buruti Bronzer
Ilia Mascara
Summer Fridays Lip Balm
